HOPEPUNK YOUTH WRITING CHALLENGE 2020

Details: Hopepunk is a recent literary movement that has been described as ‘weaponized optimism’. Hopepunk stories can be in any genre but must feature themes about demanding and fighting for a kinder, better world for all.
Young writers aged 8-18 are invited to submit entries to Iron Bridge Publishing’s HOPEPUNK YOUTH WRITING CHALLENGE throughout April 2020. Tell them your vision of a better future for a chance to be published.
Eligibilities:
- Writers must be aged 8-18 years old in 2020.
- People who turn 19 in 2020 are not eligible.
- Must submit applications mid-night of April 30, 2020
- The submission must be the original work of the entrant.
Benefits:
- Submissions that meet the criteria will be published in eBook anthologies.
- A selection of submissions will be published in a print anthology. Authors whose stories are selected will receive a fee.
- The challenge is designed to encourage a positive mental outlook during the lockdown, as well as an opportunity to develop writing and editing skills
Application process
- Read the challenge below and think about what you want to write.
- Write a first draft of your story.
- Put it away for a day or two, then read it aloud.
- Edit the story (with help) and do another draft. Do as many drafts as you need/want until you are happy with it.
- If you wish to illustrate your story, add original images.
- Proofread (with help) the story to make sure the grammar and spelling is all correct.
- Paste the story into the template on the Hopepunk Submission Form.
- Fill out the form and save it with your name in the file name.
- Check everything twice (with help)
- Submit your Hopepunk Submission Form by email to info @ ironbridgepublishing.com at any time before midnight 30 April 2020 (wherever you are).
